Men's Obesity More Dangerous than Women's!

Obese men are in more danger than obese women! But they don't get medical treatment as often as the women get! reads Pixi in the Swedish paper svd.se. And Stephan Rössner, professor and one of Sweden's most prominent experts on obesity treatment, he thinks this is a paradox. Because the number of obese men and woman are next to equal. At least in here in Sweden, where every 10th Swede is suffering from over-weight, and that is 1 million Swedes!

Stomach obesity is more frequent among men, which also is a more dangerous place to put on fat than on the hips and bottoms, where women tend to put on weight. But the men, they don't seem to care, they don't treat their big belly fat. Women do. They bought 70% of the medicament's treating obesity last year, to a cost of 155 million Sek.

But how come? Pixi asks.
There are several reasons, of course. Stephan Rössner says that women seek medical treatment two times more often than men do. And Stefan Wallerek, at the Swedish Society for the Obese, says that overweight men are even today considered to be a man of importance, while overweight women are considered to be just fat women!

Good Lord! Pixi says to herself. Big is best in the man's world, while Big is just embarrassing in the women's world ... And we live in the 21st Century ...
